Today will be zero shadow day in these parts of India

Every day is zero shadow day

Zero shadow day means the day with zero shadow is everyday. Recently, a video went viral that today 18th August will be Zero Shadow Day in India and our own shadow will also disappear for a moment in the afternoon. But this is such an event that happens every day in any one area between zero latitude and 23.5 degrees on the earth. This is a common occurrence. Actually, when the shadow disappears for a moment due to the rays of the sun falling directly on any one area or object. At that time the Sun is just above that latitude line. Friday, August 18 means today this day will be a zero shadow day in some parts of South India.

According to Dr. Shashibhushan Pandey, Senior Astronomer of Aryabhatta Observational Science Research Institute ARIES

In detail, this incident
Every year on June 21-22 at the Tropic of Cancer i.e. 23.5 latitude, the shadow becomes zero in the afternoon. Similarly, on 21st – 22nd December, this situation is created on the Tropic of Capricorn in the Southern Hemisphere. After this, the position of zero shadow keeps on changing with the date and place between zero latitude i.e. 23.5 latitude from the equator and this phenomenon is repeated every year in that region.
Mangalore, Muadabidri, Bantwal, Sakleshpur, Hassan, Shravanabelagola, Bidadi, Bengaluru, Dasarhalli, Bangarapet, Kolar, Gudiyattam, Vellore, Arcot, Arakkonam, Sriperumbudur, Tiruvallur, Avadi, Chennai, Interview Island, Awadweep etc. on Friday, 18th August. Will keep giving zero shadow.

According to senior astrophysicist Prof RC Kapoor

Due to the tilt of the earth in its axis by 23.5 degrees, the condition of zero shadow day is formed on the earth, as well as the change of seasons also happens due to this reason. Geographically, the earth has been marked in three important lines, which are the equator, the Tropic of Capricorn and the Tropic of Cancer.
