Christina Hammock Koch, Victor Glover, Reed Wiseman and Canadian Jeremy Hansen will land on the Moon

After a long wait, NASA has announced the names of four astronauts who will land on the moon. These four astronauts will land on the moon’s land. Their names are Christina Hammock Koch, Victor Glover, Reid Wiseman and Canadian Jeremy Hansen. NASA’s Artemis 2 will reach the moon next year.

Moon trip again after 55 years

The Apollo program that first took humans to the moon in the early 1970s has long been waiting for a successor. Artemis is NASA’s mission to take humans to the Moon. Artemis is a multi-stage program using new technology. In which the powerful SLS rocket has been included. Artemis 1, an unmanned test mission that orbited the Moon, successfully completed its mission on December 11, 2022. The next phase of the program will take a crewed orbit around the Moon before November 2024 under Artemis 2.

Orion had set a record

Artemis 1 was launched to the Moon on November 16, 2022, from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. This mission was without crew. The flight covered a total distance of 1.4 million miles (2.2 million km) in its journey. Orion capsule included in the mission has set a record. The Orion capsule also set a new record of 268,563 miles (432,210 km) for the greatest distance from Earth for any craft built for human space travel. The Orion spacecraft crashed into the Pacific Ocean on 11 December 2022.

Orion 2 will carry astronauts

Artemis 2 will be the first crewed flight for the Space Launch System and Orion spacecraft. The mission will follow in the footsteps of Artemis 1, which took astronauts on a journey around the Moon without landing. The four crew members could head to the Moon any time in November 2024.

Artemis 3

Artemis 3 would be the mission that would eventually land on the Moon. The crew of four astronauts will also include women for the first time. Work on the Human Landing System (HLS) is in progress. Artemis 3 will launch before and wait for the Orion spacecraft on the Moon. The two astronauts would then land on the Moon on HLS and stay on the lunar surface for about six days. This manned mission will not launch before December 2025.
