Amazing jet discovered in Orion’s nebula
Scientists have discovered the wonderful S-shaped jet of English. This jet remains in the Orion Nebula, the nursery for giving birth to stars. This discovery has been made with the help of Very Large Telescope. Jet has its own important place among the wonders of the universe. The discovered jet is ejected from a star in the Orion Nebula. This nursery that gives birth to stars exists 1,350 light-years away from Earth.
Discovered by the Very Large Telescope’s Multi-Unit Spectroscopic Explorer instrument
The name of this star is 244-440. The term S-shaped jet is derived from the Multi Unit Spectroscopic Explorer instrument of the Very Large Telescope. This jet is swirling, seemingly spraying gas into the young stellar nursery. Scientists say that the curved nature of this jet suggests that it may be orbiting a star.
Quoting the discovery scientists
Scientists say on this discovery that many young stars are often surrounded by a disk of material falling towards the star. “Some of this material may be expelled in powerful jets perpendicular to the disk.” and revolve around each other. Due to which the position of the jet keeps on changing.
This nebula has many names
The Orion Nebula, also known as Messier 42, M42, or NGC 1976, is a diffuse nebula located in our Milky Way Galaxy. It is located in the middle of Orion, south of Orion’s belt in the Orion constellation. It is one of the brightest nebulae and is visible to the naked eye in the night sky.
This nebula is a giant nursery for making stars
This nebula is also the closest massive star formation region to us. The M42 nebula is estimated to be 24 light-years across and has a mass of about 2,000 times that of the Sun. In old texts, it has often been called the Great Nebula of the Orion constellation or the Great Orion Nebula.
Most studies have been done on this nebula
Due to being very close to us, the Orion Nebula has been the center of study for scientists. This nebula has helped in understanding other nebulae of the universe. This nebula has proved to be of paramount importance to scientists in understanding the origin of stars.
